Lots of scams have brought very negative publicity to legitimate web marketing services conducted online. Companies no longer know whom to trust and they make thorough background research before starting any collaboration. The Internet favors fraudulent activities because of the anonymity or the cover that it can provide to various crooks. In the following lines I am going to tell you what not to be believe or ‘buy’ when it comes to web marketing services.
1.Some things are too good too be true!
Be wary of anything that seems cheap, easy to put into practice and incredibly advantageous for your business. Some web marketing services may claim that they can help you get the number one position on search engine result pages. This is not possible if the web marketing company works with your selected keywords alone. Maybe they can get you a good ranking and increase traffic, but too daring promises may not be reasonable at all!
2.Submission to hundreds of search engines …
From all the Internet scams, this is one of the worst. Many people get duped into believing that by contracting some web marketing services they will have their site submitted to all the search engines. There are just four main search engines that are worth working with, and they do not require any kind of submission. Search engines perform the website indexation right away as long as you have some incoming links to your pages. Do not pay for such ‘advantages’!
3.Thousands of backlinks for a modest fee!
Web businesses depend on traffic for their development, and backlinks increase web page popularity and attract more web surfers. Beware web marketing services that promise to get you thousands of backlinks for $30 or $40 because you could do more harm than good. Most of the backlinks could be spammy or there may be some other issue you don’t want to be involved in.
4.Avoid link exchange programs!
Spammy schemes, this is one other way of defining link exchange programs in the ‘eyes’ of search engines. I suggest that you do a bit more reading about what such programs involve before paying some obscure company for web marketing services that include this option.
5.Buy opt-in subscriber lists!
It is totally illegal to have ad messages emailed to people who have not willingly left you their address to receive updates. Marketing services that promise you something like this can answer to court, and you may better report or ignore them than actually use them. Are you willing to take full liability when you are not sure that the emails provided in such listings are opt-ins?
