Selling Online With EBay ? Auction or BIN?

Selling Online With EBay ? Auction or BIN?

The bountiful world of eBay offers retailers a spectacular venue for selling products to a worldwide base of customers. Selling on eBay is great for both the novice entrepreneur and the established business that is simply looking to broaden its market niche. However, when setting up your online presence, you need to take stock of several factors, including what you will sell, the logistics of how you will deliver product and process payments (including currency conversion for international customers) and, most importantly, how you will sell. By this, I mean that you have two choices as a seller in eBay, you can put your merchandise up for reserve or non reserve auction, or you can sell direct through their Buy It Now option. Here are a few of the pros and cons with both options, to help you find which will better suit your business.

 RESERVE AUCTION

Placing your products into an auction set to meet a reserve price is a good idea if your product is a high dollar item, if it is something big or valuable, such as a classic car, a rare collectible, jewelry, or any valuable that you want to make sure to protect a certain level of value for. Say you have a rare baseball card that you want to sell at auction, to try to maximize your profit. What the reserve does is it allows you to set a minimum price that you must get for the product at the completion of the auction, and if you fail to get it, you are not bound to give the item to the person who bid the highest (but did not meet your reserve price). This is great for protecting value, but often makes it difficult to move your products, so it is best not to pick a reserve auction unless you are certain your product will generate a lot of interest, and will be seen as a must have for your potential buyers.

NON RESERVE AUCTION

The non reserve auction allows you to sell your product at auction to generate the highest bid, but without the protection of guaranteeing a minimum selling price. The benefits of this are that you will likely move the product or item fairly quickly, for non reserve auctions tend to attract more bidders, as potential buyers think that they have a chance to acquire a real bargain. This generates interest. The biggest down side is that you are stuck with whatever the highest bid ends up being, which could easily be significantly less than your ideal price, and maybe even less than what you require to return a profit. Non reserve auctions are good for items that, while possibly rare or high priced, for whatever reason do not generate significant interest on their own merits. Or, they are good for moving items that you have little capital invested in acquiring and storing, so you have little to lose, and you simply want to move the product quickly.

 BUY IT NOW

Buy it now is for items that you either have a large inventory of, and want to move immediately (without having to wait for the completion of auctions) or where the eBay market is so saturated that you are unlikely to generate a lot of bids from an auction.

Entrepreneurs Always Drive On Empty – Chapter 4

The Ultimate Business Bible – For many years I have looked down at my petrol gauge wondering how long it would be before I next had to refill. Not because I didn’t have the money to fill the tank but because I focused more on making my money work for me rather than stagnating in my tank.

Have you ever wondered why some small businesses seem to propel from nothing to something faster than others. Why some business owners seem to make things happen and get things done without stress? Ho

At Last, eBay is Helping You to Sell Digital Products

At Last, eBay is Helping You to Sell Digital Products

It looks like eBay is at last embracing the fact that many sellers want to offer digital products on eBay, and many buyers are interested in buying them.

If you’ve been selling digital products on eBay, you will know that they haven’t made it too easy for you.

And yet, digital products are THE ideal product for eBay sellers.

You can define digital products as having (almost) 100% profit, cost nothing to deliver, may not have any competition, is available in unlimited quantities, costs nothing to re-stock and can sell very well.

So many people are now selling digital products on eBay, that eBay.com is now making it easier for us.
They have produced a whole new section on the selling forms for us to complete.

If you’re based in the UK, you too can list your digital products on eBay.com. You can take advantage of the new digital goods listings process and offer your products to the vast US eBay market. Simply go to www.ebay.com, and log in with your usual eBay ID and password. Now you’re ready to us the new selling forms.

First, however, just what are digital or downloadable products?

eBay defines a digital item as “a computer file or special information that you can access online or have delivered electronically.”

Examples of digital items are a word processor or pdf file (usually called ebooks), an image taken with a digital camera, an MP3 file of an original song, software, an original recipe etc.

Here are some of the benefits of selling digital goods:

1. No shipping cost for buyer or seller

2. Virtually NO competition

3. Swarms of customers if done right

4. Very high profit margins

5. No restocking expense

6. No boxes to pack

7. No visits to the Post Office

8. Immediate confirmed delivery to customers

9. Sellers can grow a mailing list with every sale

10. Facilitates useful 2-step marketing tool (i.e. sell a report on eBay for leads)

Until recently there was quite a bit of confusion for some people when it came to selling digital items on eBay, however eBay is now embracing the concept of selling digital goods.

Let’s talk now about what eBay has created to help us sell digital products.

They explain everything fully here – http://pages.ebay.com/choosingformats/digitalitems/faqs/?ssPageName=CM

This is a massive step forward.

It answers most of the questions sellers had about selling digital goods, removes most of the obstacles that were previously there, and indeed goes much further than most of had hoped.

You can now, for example, establish a download page where customers are automatically sent after paying for a digital item through PayPal. This could be quite a difficult task before, but now it’s automatic.

Also, if you have a web address where you host your digital files for sale, eBay can provide your
buyers (after they pay) with direct access to the files they have purchased. All you do is to “Provide Web address for download” from the pull-down menu when creating your auction.

This is all intimately linked to PayPal, as digital item buyers and sellers want to be able to have the product delivered automatically and immediately after payment. You don’t have to do this, you can still deliver by email if you wish.

It seems to imply that digital goods will be allowed in many categories now, instead of being restricted to the one “information” category that they have hitherto required digital item sellers to use. Although not clearly spelled out, the new policy does make reference to “multiple categories” being used for digital goods. Keep an eye out for clarification on that matter.

All of this is really good news.

If you sell digital items, or want to, the doors of opportunity have been opened wide by eBay. I hope you can take advantage of it. I know I will!

Power sellers on Ebay obviously know something that not everyone knows, otherwise everyone would be a power seller. Their secrets vary, from their business practices to their sales inventory to their advertising techniques. However more and more power sellers on Ebay are turning to or being created by specialized software for Ebay sellers.

Specialized software for Ebay sellers is designed to give any Ebay business a respectable lift. By providing a unique blend of services to really help the average individual toward their goal of becoming a power seller on Ebay, the software for Ebay sellers can really assist not just in marketing but in client retention as well. Any Ebay seller who can successfully retain buyers is destined for great things. Just like any other business, retaining repeat buyers is the ultimate secret for success.

Software for Ebay sellers can provide nearly any level of distinct and directed assistance in creating a very powerful Ebay business.

Power sellers on Ebay have almost always been assisted by some sort of Ebay selling tool and Ebay selling tips. Nobody got there on their own. Unlike conventional incomes, the alternative income marketplace does not offer a lot of education. It offers a lot of hype, but very little actual and honest education. Those who have found a source of education or a real and diverse online auction tool have become successful while the rest are still down here on the bottom rung trying to figure it all out.

The bottom line is pretty basic. The trick to becoming one of those power sellers on Ebay is to find some authentic, useful, and applicable assistance out there. Out of all the Ebay selling tips that are out there floating around in cyberspace, would it really be so hard to believe that there is authentic software for Ebay sellers that can enhance even the most fledgling business?

Believe me, there is.
