How to create an eBay business

To create an eBay business you first must decide what you will sell. Selling everything to everyone is never a wise move to take, however, finding a gap/niche in the eBay market and then selling to that niche market is always a good move to take, as is of course selling a product that sells that other sellers are already selling. Selling a product that other sellers are selling will of course be more competitive, but competition is healthy, and remember that there aren’t many things that aren’t already being sold on eBay – so it’s a case of being competitive, offering the best deals and the best customer service.

Creating an eBay business requires a bit of trial and error, especially if you are new to eBay, so, give yourself a bit of time – a trial and error bit of time – to find out what type of products sell, what adverts and listings people are drawn to, and of course allow yourself a bit of time to build up some feedback, which is essential when creating a solid eBay business.  Learn eBay’s selling policies and ask questions to ensure you know everything you need and want to know.

To start this trial and error process I would recommend that you conduct some primary and secondary market research, find out what people want to buy, what they need and also what sells.

Remember that anybody can make money on eBay when creating a business, you just need to decide what you want to sell that’s profitable, who to and at what price.

So, when creating an eBay business it is important to think about your costs, for example how much does it or will it cost you to list your item for sale? How much will it cost you to buy and distribute the item/s? And how much will it cost if a sale occurs? (eBay normally take a percentage fee of the items sale price). Work out how you will sell your items, for example, will you set up a shop? Or will you just list items on the open marketplace? If you decide to set up a shop, how much will it cost to list items for sale? What will it cost to market and promote your shop? And how much will your shop fees are on say a weekly or monthly basis?

I would recommend if you are serious about creating an eBay business to write an eBay business plan. Your business plan doesn’t have to be anything fancy or lengthy, as long as it includes the information that will allow you to see just where and when your eBay business will make you money.

In your eBay business plan I would include market research, a profit and loss forecast, a marketing and sales plan and a cash flow forecast. These items may take a short amount of time to produce but they will be worth it, as you will be taking another step to creating an eBay business.

After producing your business plan all that’s left to do is to put it in the cupboard or to put it into action – Remember that creating an eBay business is more than just buying and selling items, it is about creating, starting and developing a business that is profitable, reputable and reliable and long lasting.  Nobody, even on eBay will want to buy off a fly by night business owner.  Building up a solid trustworthy business and relationship will be a major key in how successful your eBay business is.

eBay Selling is the Ideal Home Business

eBay Selling is the Ideal Home Business

eBay selling is the ultimate new-start opportunity for your home based business. In my opinion, it beats any other type of internet marketing for two reasons. First, eBay is the easiest way to make money on the internet. And second, it’s the quickest way to make money on the internet.

Another item of proof you might like to consider when deciding if eBay selling is for you, is that 430,000 people in the USA alone say that eBay is their sole or their major source of income.

I don’t believe there’s any other method of internet marketing which can produce success numbers like those.

When you think about this, it isn’t surprising that eBay is my recommendation. Internet marketing is a vast topic, requiring that you know about a huge number of techniques and tactics. Even as you’re acquiring your internet marketing knowledge, it falls out of date as the internet keeps developing. Two years ago internet marketers were promoting AdSense as the way to make money on the internet. Last year, co-registration was the way to make your fortune. This year they’re telling you that you need to become an expert in Social Bookmarking and Web 2.0. If you’ve never heard of any of these, don’t worry. You’ve saved yourself lots of money and time!

I don’t know about you, but what I want from the internet is a way to make money easily.

I simply want to be able to offer something for sale via the internet, and then make a fair profit when it’s bought by somebody. A reasonable desire, but there’s a huge problem…

The hardest part of internet marketing is getting people to see what you have to offer. There are billions of websites out there, and you’re competing against all of them for traffic!

This is where eBay selling comes in.

eBay already gets massive visitor traffic. Truly massive. When I last checked on Alexa, eBay was the most visited shopping site in the world, pushing Amazon into second place.

eBay have invested hugely in the necessary marketing activity to get traffic, and it’s all there waiting for you.

All you have to do is to persuade a tiny fraction of those visitors to see what you’re selling.

Plus, you can test a product within days, and there are virtually no limits as to what you can sell on eBay. When selling on eBay you can get involved in any area in which you have an interest or expertise.

The figures regarding the growth of eBay are impressive. As I write this, eBay have just announced their 2006 annual results.

* 2004.1 million listings in 2006.

* .5 billion value of auctions sales 2006.

* billion Gross Profit in 2006.

* 221.6 million eBay members as at 31 December, 2006.

* On average, 112,300 new members joined eBay each day throughout 2006.

* .7 billion value of PayPal payments 2006.

* 133 million PayPal accounts as at 31 December, 2006.

All of this is great news for us!

The eBay market place is thriving, and we should all be able to thrive with it.

If you’re in the market to make extra money, and you want to do it through online auctions, then eBay selling is definitely the business for you.

eBay Success Secrets Revealed

eBay Success Secrets Revealed

You’ve likely heard of people who have become multimillionaires overnight by merchandising stuff on eBay. Well, I am not alleging that it never happens but I am alleging that it’s only half true.

There actually are several people who have made and continue to make fortunes by marketing stuff on eBay, nevertheless, not many of them did it overnight, if any.

All, or at the least almost all, successful marketers on eBay share at the least one common trait – they all work hard. The successful eBay Marketers don’t play around in marketing on eBay.

They commit a lot of hours and lots of effort and energy into producing their success and it does not happen over night. It happens after Adequate effort has been exerted. They all put client attention on the top of their lists. They’re cognizant that eBay is much like a small town with a well-functioning grapevine.

All of the genuinely successful eBay Marketers make full use of the reports that eBay provides. Ebay does not make a big deal out of these reports but they’re right there under all of our proverbial noses.

Oh, and did I mention that these reports are free? They are except for those who have stores on eBay and then the cost is minimal.

The other matter that the successful eBay marketers all do is take full advantage of the free consultation service that eBay provides for all levels of sales.

These consultations are done person-to-person by phone with marketing and sales experts who work for eBay and who are well informed about the ins and outs of merchandising on eBay. They can answer questions or they can give advice and the service is free.

Ebay wants marketers to be successful. The more successful sellers are on eBay the more successful eBay itself becomes.

Did you realize that there’s a 93% failure rate amongst eBay sellers? Its true but its not surprising.

It’s just very much easier to fail that it is to succeed. Success requires hard work. It requires determination and it takes thought and preparation.

It requires discovering what went wrong and then working out a way to make it go correctly the next time. Success takes keeping on when everyone else gives up. Success takes tenaciousness.

Lead propagation is one of the secrets of the success of any online business. Ebay is not an exception to the rule.

Ebay can furnish you with leads easier than you can get them any other way. You’d do well if you only utilized eBay as a lead propagation tool but you can actually do more than that.

You can sell products at a gain on eBay (maybe not as big a profit as you make on your own site) as well as for lead generation. Leads are of as much or more value than one time sales.
