Ebay Marketing – Make Money With Online Auctions
Ebay is the #1 Auction site on the net today. With access to the internet community in one website, you have the chance to generate huge numbers of sales of your goods. But, do not think that selling online is any easier than selling elsewhere. To make the most of your time running auctions, here are five tips to increase your profitability.
So many different people from housewives to executives have tried their hand at selling one thing or another on eBay. Those who have done really well include those who sell precious metals and even real estate. It gives new meaning to selling everything but the kitchen sink. So, what makes them different? What does it take to get started selling on eBay? Here are five tips to help you get your fair share of eBay profits.
1. Conduct your market research first. Just about everything has been sold on eBay but everything you sell will not necessarily make you money. See what things have sold well in the past. Some products sell like hotcakes now and then bt more slowly at other times. What is popular right now may not be popular at this time next year. If eBay is your only income, you should bring in more money than you are putting out.
2. Set your prices with care. Again look at auction results. What is the most competitive price? Your laptop may be worth 0 but if laptops from the same manufacturing year are selling at 0, asking for 0 will not . Set a price that is below the top selling price and charge a little more for secured shipping.
3. Work on your product listings. Even though hundreds of thousands of people shop online all the time, they are still skeptical about sketchy details. Leaving out relevant facts about your product can be a turn off for buyers. If they think you are lying about something, they will be reluctant to buy from you.
4. Read all of the eBay policies. The last thing you want is legal problems. eBay has terms and conditions in place to protect buyers and sellers. Non-compliance could get you sanctioned on the site. Ignorance is not an excuse. All you need to know can be found on the eBay website in an easy-to-read format for users.
5. Decide on all aspects of selling before writing your listings. Many people have forgotten to be clear about their shipping and payment methods, and lived to regret it. Who wants to wait for the check in the mail? We all know how that scenario usually turns out. There are systems in place for disputing with non-paying auction winners but you should avoid having to go down that path. The same goes for shipping. If it costs you more for shipping than you anticipated, you will not make much money, if any.
If you are thinking about selling on ebay, then I HIGHLY recommend a killer resource that shows you how to dominate the competition and make tons of money within days!

Ebay Marketing in a Nutshell
The biggest problem that people run into when getting started is they
try to sell everything to everyone. This is the wrong way. You should choose one, two or three related products. Your product that you auction should be inexpensive (under usually, there are plenty of exceptions but I want to keep this simple). You should then setup a website to send people who win your auctions to (and people who don’t, more later). They should then be presented with the related more expensive item.
This is called back-end selling. A lot of people go on eBay and they don’t understand what they are trying to do.
1. Build a customer base by obtaining new customers
2. Sell these customers over and over again.
This is where the REAL money is made. Since it costs the most to obtain new customers in any business. A lot of businesses will lose money just to obtain a new customer because they know they can sell them again later and the lifetime value of the customer makes the initial lose petty. I get a lot of people after hearing me say this, think it’s a scam. They think that selling something to someone after they bought something isn’t right. In reality you are creating a win-win situation. You made money and the customer was happy because they got something they wanted. So, what product do you choose? It’s up to you. Something that sells well and that you have an interest is the best.
Let’s say you use Weight loss pills for example. Now something dispensable like this is great because you won’t need to find more back-end products. But if you do you will make a lot more money. Ok, so you chose the diet pill ‘Stacker 3’. Now every time you sell one on an auction you can follow up with them every month reminding them to order more. You should setup a website to take orders for this. If you need a web host you can get for under a month (and this host includes a web site builder package. There are also free ones out there, which you can get. Do a search for “Free web hosting” at: http://www.google.com and you will get plenty of options. You might want to start off free. I prefer my own domain for obvious reasons; mainly it just looks more professional.
So what’s on this web page? Well, that’s going to depend. Lets continue with the Stacker 3 example. So you have an order page setup to sell your Stacker 3 (for people who are reordering). What else can you sell them? How about a book about weight loss and dieting? Sounds good to me. Put a little ad up for one. The easiest products to affiliate with to make money use clickbank so get a free clickbank account.
If you’re already making sales on ebay you should have your customers in a spreadsheet (or better yet a database) with their mailing address, what they bought and when. You can mail them via direct mail anytime you want telling them about new auctions, selling them something or anything you want! If you don’t have any sales but have a PayPal account, anytime someone uses PayPal you get their address. Do the same thing with this, direct mail them something!
With your eBay account you get an “about me” page which, until you do something with is worthless. Use this to your advantage. Put up an about me page, either collect leads for something free or send them to your website. In every one of your auctions point them to your “about me” page.
Use peoples emotions to your advantage. You will often see the same thing selling for twice as much just because there are a lot of bids. Create a frenzy! Start your auctions at without a reserve. Take that little risk and as long as you’ve seen the same thing sell and you have a good description and title, you’re pretty safe and the added profit will definitely be worth it!
Some points to keep in mind if you want to succeed in your endeavor.
1) Offer a Money-Back Guarantee – Risk reversal has proven to
increase sales in marketing in any and all media.
2) FREE Shipping – Offer free shipping on your items.
3) Setup a section of your home ONLY for your eBay business – You’ll be pleasantly surprised with the tax write offs!
Happy Marketing!
